Bessie Lou Whittemore Jackson, age 85, of Oakman, passed away Sunday February 17th in Gordon Health Care.
Bessie was born April 8, 1927 in Oakman, Georgia, daughter of the late Daniel Z. Whittemore and Bessie Jane Padgett Whittemore, she was a member of the Oakman United Methodist Church and was the Postmistress for Oakman and Plainville prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl S. Jackson, Jr., two brothers, Noel and John Whittemore and two sisters, Joella Rogers and Edna Cochran.
Survivors include her brother, Paul Whittemore; her son, Carl S. Jackson III, three daughters, Jane Whittemore Jackson Davis, Sharon Elizabeth Jackson Shackleford, and Marion Maxwell Jackson Billingsley, six grandchildren, Scot Davis, Amy Petty, Becca Morrow, Lewis Shackleford III, Daniel Shackleford, and Emily Billingsley, four great-grandchildren, Sydney Davis, Thomas Petty, Caitlyn Petty, and Lilly Morrow.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the Oakman/Ranger United Methodist Church with Rev. Padgett Nelson and Rev. Tom Lanford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Pallbearers serving include: Scot Davis, Chris Petty, Emily Billingsley, Lewis Shackleford, Daniel Shackleford, Charlie Morrow, and Carl Jackson.
