Bessie Mildred Long

Friday, October 17, 2008 Mrs. Bessie M. Long, age 93 of the Resaca community died Thursday, October 16, 2008 In Gordon Hospital following several weeks of illness. Mrs. Long was born in Whitfield County, April 9, 1915, daughter of the late Walter and Lula Bright Singleton. Also, two sons, Junior Long and Martin Long, preceded her in death. She was formerly employed by Pinion Rug of Resaca and was a member of the Sardis Church of God of Murray County. Mrs. Long is survived by two sons, Hubert L. Long and Will D. Long both of Resaca; two daughters, Kathryn Dean Serritt of Sugar Valley and Betty Walraven of Resaca; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren; several half sisters and several half brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Jimmy Timms and Stinnett Balliew officiating. Jade Pickard will have charge of music and burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday.
