Barbara Murphy Wood

Friday, March 05, 2010 Barbara Murphy Wood, age 63, of Calhoun. Died Thursday March 4th at her residence. Barbara was born in Raleigh County, W.VA. September 30, 1946. Daughter of the late George E. and Audrey Jane Murphy Wood. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church and the Calhoun High School Class of “64”. Barbara had worked as legal secretary and as a caregiver in later years. Her sister, Virginia I. Brooks, preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers and sisters; Marilyn Butcofski and her husband John of Shavertown, PA., Mary Sue Green of Calhoun, John Wood of Jumping Branch, West Virginia, Mona W. Hart and her husband Robert of Stella, MO., and George E. Wood, II of Calhoun. Her brother in law, George R. Brooks of Rainelle, West Virginia and a special friend Ronald J. Halverson, Columbia, Maryland. Funeral services will be conducted Monday March 8th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. George Wood and J. Clay Hart will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 until 6pm.
