Barbara Sue Holbert

Barbara Sue Holbert, age 76, of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Rome. Sue was born on January 13, 1941 to the late Buford Holbert and Pearl Keener Holbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Holbert and his wife Joyce; and sister, Agnes Cornwell and her husband Charles. Sue was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and had taught school in Gordon County and surrounding counties in her lifetime. She received her degree from Berry College and Masters from Georgia Southern. Sue is survived by a special friend, Pearley Chastain; two brothers, Cicero Holbert and his wife Carolyn of Calhoun, and Tom Holbert of Kingsport; Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with the Reverend David Nix in charge of graveside services.Pallbearers serving will be nephews, Wade Holbert, Rusty Holbert, Gilbert Holbert, Kevin Cornwell, Chad Cornwell, Todd Holbert, Hunter Holbert and Drew Holbert.
