A.W. "Dub" French

Mr. A.W. “Dub” French, age 82, a well known resident of the Red Bud Community died at 2:05 AM Sunday, July 28 in Gordon Hospital. Dub was born in Gordon County, May 23, 1931, son of the late Phil French and Ada Belle Parsons French. Also, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlsie Burns and two brothers, Ray and Willard French. Dub was a retired cattle and poultry farmer and owned and operated the Red Bud Convenient Grocery; He was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM. Dub is survived by his wife, Jean Greeson French; two daughters, Kelly Shaw and her husband Jimmy of the Red Bud Community, Lesley Ratcliff and her husband Chris of Oakman; one son Tony French of Red Bud; one brother, Jimmy French and his wife Ovalee of Red Bud; one sister, Betty Jo Pass of Calhoun; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Cole and her husband David Cole, Allison Shaw, Wade French, , Landon Ratcliff, Garrett Ratcliff and his wife Joey Ratcliff; 2 great grandchildren, Kurston Burns and Presley Ratcliff. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 31 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Hunt officiating, and burial will be in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jerome Silvers officiating. Fay and Ron Bentley will have charge of music, and the family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews, Wade French, Garrett Ratcliff, Landon Ratcliff, Kurston Burns, Phil French, Kent French, and Craig French. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Greeson, Larry Woodall, Jimmy Burns, Steven Greeson, Stuart French, Russell Pass, David Pass, and Mark Gilbert.
