Autry Roberts, age 78 of Calhoun, passed away on December 19, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.
Autry was born January 22, 1937 in Calhoun, the son of the late George Shorter Roberts and Jennie Mae Campbell Roberts. He was retired from Gordon Hospital with more than 34 years of service, and attended Nellie Peters United Methodist Church. He was a member of the local American Legion, VFW, and was the past president of the Georgia Hospital Engineers’ Association. After retirement he loved farming and raising cattle, as well as spending time with his family. Mr. Roberts is preceded in death by siblings, JoAnne Bishop, Yvonne Bodenhamer, Benson Roberts, and Farris DeFoor.
Survivors include his wife Betty Roberts; two daughters, Cindy Burton and her husband David, and Pam White and her husband Milton; one son, Bryan Roberts; four grandchildren, Justin White and his wife Lauren, Josh White, Thad Burton, and Anna Burton; a sister Lorita Bryant; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 22nd at 4 PM in Fain Cemetery with Dr. Bert Vaughan officiating.
Pallbearers serving will be Justin White, Josh White, Thad Burton, Kevin Allen, Brandon Allen, Shawn Smith, and Pat McCarthy.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 4 until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Nellie Peters United Methodist Church.
