Aubrey Baker age 89 of Calhoun died Saturday, July 17 at his residence.


Aubrey was born December 28, 1931, in Sycamore, Georgia, son of the late Josephus Lamar Baker and Pearl Yancey Baker. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Army/Air Force. Aubrey attended Heritage Baptist Church and was a production line supervisor with General Motors at its Doraville plant near Atlanta. After retirement he was later employed by Mohawk Industries, locally.

He is survived by his wife Judy Baker, his daughter; Michelle Baker Green, three stepdaughters; Rachel Sumler, Ruth Mulkey, and Rebecca Lombardo, one sister; Wilma Lee Pettepher Lucas. Thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 24th at 11am at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Brian Mulkey, Darrel Sims, Rob Lombardo, Seth Mason, Brett Jones, and Craig Chandler serving as pallbearers. Blake Carter will serve as honorary pallbearer, and the Paul Gwin American Legion Riders of Calhoun will serve as honorary escort.

The family will receive friends Friday evening July 23rd from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.
