Ret. SGM Arthur John Avedisian, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his residence.
Arthur was born on June 16, 1943 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Arthur Arsien Avedisian and Betty Carson Avedisian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jimmie Lou Avedisian; and sister, Margo Novak. Arthur was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving two tours in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was a Mason and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Parris Avedisian of Calhoun; two daughters, Laura Lee Strong and her husband Terry of Port Orchard, Washington, and Virginia Verbeke Parris and her husband Charles; two step-sons, Freddie Carl Parris, Jr. and his wife Regina of East Ridge, TN, and Charles Robert Parris of Calhoun; three step-daughters, Becky Joan Cordle of Lafayette, Cynthia Lynn Parris and her wife Bridget of Tomah, Wisconsin, and Iris Anne Knight and her husband Rex of Lafayette; brother, John William Avedisian and his wife Amy of Windsor, Connecticut; one granddaughter, Nicole Ann White; four great-grandchildren, Ahyran Mathew Meissner, Brijett Meissner, Kohan Meissner and Breydin White; eight step-grandchildren; and thirteen step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, September 19th at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home with Commander Donnie Hudgens officiating with full military rites provided by the United States Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 PM until the funeral hour at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
