Annie Thompson Esquivel

Annie Thompson Esquivel, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at her residence. Annie was born on October 7, 1932 in Fort Payne, AL to the late Joe Thompson and Artie Sparks Jenkins. In addition to her parents, Annie was also preceded in death by: her husband, Ignacio Esquivel; her first husband, Edwards Stephens; a son, Bobby Stephens; and two sisters, Betty Stoy and Vinnie Mae Thomas. Prior to Annie’s retirement she worked as a welder for Roper Corporation. She was a member of New Town Baptist Church. Annie is survived by: her three sons, Reverend Joe Stephens and his wife Donna, Danny Stephens and his wife Sherry, and Mike Stephens; one sister, Melva Crane; grandchildren, Kristy and Brad Fitch, Shelly and Eric Stewart, Greg Stephens, and Clint and Nikia Stephens; and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 19th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Walter Hare officiating. Interment will follow in Chattooga Cemetery in La Fayette, GA with Reverend Joe Stephens in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers serving are: Brad Fitch, Eric Stewart, Brock Stewart, Clay Stewart, Clint Stephens, and Greg Stephens.
