Alton “Bud” Harris, age 92 of Chatsworth, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at his residence.
Bud was born on May 15, 1924 in Gordon County, to the late Henry Harris and Ella Brown Harris. Alton Harris was a lifelong resident of Gordon county where he grew up with his family on a farm off of Hwy 53 were he learned to love working the land and growing his own vegetables. Uncle bud (what family and friends called him) worked for the city of Calhoun for 30 years and drove a road grader, an occupation that he truly loved and talked about all his life. Uncle bud was a sweetheart to everyone he knew and will truly be missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, Tommy Harris, Alex Harris, Randel Harris, Andy Harris, Inez Fowler, and twin sister Alma Hough and Dess Edwards. A step son David Loyd.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Gayle Doughtery, Pam & George Glenn, Scottie Harris; step children, Allen & Debbie Loyd and Carol Hunter; grandchildren, Matthew & Kristen Silvers, Crystal & Cotton Smith and Brandon Glenn; great-grandchildren, Haley, Canyon and Javan Vineyard, Blake Silvers; special friends, Janice Maddron and Kathy Jaco. A spe-cial nephew, Dean Harris and other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 19th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Glen Stout officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery with Matthew Silvers, Brandon Glenn, Cotton Smith, Canyon Vineyard, Bruce Morrison, and Russell Harris serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
