Alton Toy Arrowood

Friday, November 07, 2008 Mr. Alton Toy Arrowood, age 76, of Calhoun. Died Friday morning November 7th in Hamilton Medical Center, Dalton. Mr. Arrowood was born in Shelby, NC., February 20, 1932. Son of the late Calvin and Carrie Powell Arrowood. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon. He was a member of the Lions Club and prior to his retirement was the District Terminal Manager for Carolina Freight Carriers for 54 years. Survivors include his wife; Betty A. Arrowood and a daughter; Debra Sides both of Calhoun. One sister; Sue Kemp of Shelby, NC.. Three grandchildren; Brandy Green, Heather Underhill, and Melanie Ingram. Two great-great grandchildren Tristen and Justin Underhill. Funeral services will be conducted Monday November 10th at 1pm at the Calhoun First Baptist Church. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Lonnie Daniel will have charge of the music. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Garden. Honorary escorts will be drivers of Carolina Freight as well as the Deacon’s of the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 at the funeral home and on Monday until 11:30 at which time Mr. Arrowood will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
