Almer Kate Burk

Almer Kate Burk, age 89, of Plainville, passed away Sunday morning November 6^th at her residence.

Almer was born February 17, 1933, in Colquitt County, Georgia. Daughter of the late Luther Clayton and Louella Thomas Clayton. She was attending the Adairsville Church of God at the time of her death but was a member of the Assembly of God in Moultrie. Almer was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Floyd Burk, three sons, Charlie Burk Jr., Joe Burk and Danny Burk, one grandson, Jeremy Starkey, as well as five other brothers and one sister.

Six generations of survivors include her children, Hilda Gravitt, Mary Whittemore, Arlie Burk, and Lee Burk. Her twin brother, Alfred Clayton. Grandchildren, Johnny Gravitt, Steve Gravitt, Cindy McGinnis, Sherry Whittemore, Keisha Chastain, Frank Burk, Joe Burk, Floyd Burk, Kenneth Burk, Charlie Burk, Jennifer Burk, and Daniel Burk. Several Great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday November 9^th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Coomer and Audrey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include Steve Gravitt, Alan Young, Floyd Burk, Chris Hollingsworth, Gene Hollingsworth, and Charlie Burk.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 until 2 prior to the funeral.
