Alma Lair Wright

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 Mrs. Alma Lair Wright, age 94, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday September 15, 2009. Alma was born in Bartow County on November 20, 1914. Daughter of the late James Cleveland and Roxie Ann Sloan Lair. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun and attended the Senior Citizens Community Club. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Weston E. “Ebb” Wright on July 18, 2009. She is survived by two nieces and one nephew; Ann L. Green of Calhoun, Mary Frances Holden and her husband David of Birmingham, Alabama, and Thomas E. Lair and his wife Charlotte of San Antonio, Texas. Three stepchildren; Peggy Smith and her husband Gene of Calhoun, Joan Mathis and her husband Rayford of Cartersville, and Linda Slade and her husband Dr. George Slade of Florida. Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 18th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Bert Vaughn, Rev. Doug Roebuck, and Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the East View Cemetery in Rome, Georgia. Rebecca Owens will have charge of the music. Pallbearers serving include; Brian Green, Tom Lair, David Holden, David Smith, Tiny Mauldin, and Gene Smith. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heyman Hospice of Rome, % 420 East 2nd Street, Rome, Georgia, 30761 or the First Baptist Church of Calhoun. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 3 until 5pm at the funeral home.
