Alden Odes Haygood

September 16, 2010 Alden O. Haygood, age 84 of the Resaca/Mount Zion community died at 11:10 AM Tuesday September 14 in Gordon Hospital. Alden was born in the Ramhurst Community, September 1, 1926, son of the late Turner and Lucy Hughes Haygood. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Mae Causby, Edith Fite, and Olene Johnson and three brothers, Malcolm, Wilburn, and Henry Haygood. He was a lifetime resident of Murray County and retired from Coronet Industries in 1996 with over 30 years service. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church near Resaca. Alden is survived by his wife of 45 years Sue Robertson Haygood; two daughters, Sheryl Haygood; Michele Waddell and her husband Cleatus all of Resaca. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Friday, September 17 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Isaac Johns officiating; Dianne Sisson will have charge of music and burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The Haygood family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Terry, Allen, and Harbin Johnson, Michael, Johnathan, and Jeremy Sisson; they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 3:45 PM Friday.
