Mrs. Ada “Shebbie Lou” DeFoor age 86 of 1071 Nicklesville Rd., Resaca, died Sunday June 22nd. at the residence following complications from Alzheimers Disease.
Mrs. DeFoor was born in Gordon County on August 11, 1921 and had been a lifelong resident. She was born the daughter of the late Jess and Ella Chitwood Wilbanks, was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Resaca Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Douglas Glenn DeFoor in 1968, two brothers; Bill and Dick Wilbanks and three sisters; Pauline McBee, Lillie Mae Dodd and Ruth Stone.
Survivors include her husband J.E. DeFoor of Resaca, one son; Lynn DeFoor and his wife Lorinda of Resaca, two sisters; Charlie Silvers and Bessie Davis both of Calhoun, five grandchildren; Jonathan and Jennette DeFoor, Jeremy and Celina DeFoor, Christopher, Ashley and Alison Gresham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday June 24th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. James Cobb and Rev. Eddie Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascas Baptist Church Cemetery with the Tilton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in charge of the graveside services.
Pallbearers serving include Ricky Silvers, Brian and Matthew Ruddell, Ricky Hollingsworth, Tim Roe, Mitchell and Gary Long and Russell McBee and they are asked to meet at the Thomas Funeral Home at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. today (Monday),
